Anbu ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Anbu mobile application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We designed Anbu with a privacy-first approach. We do not collect personal information such as your name, phone number, email address, or location. The Service operates using only device-level identifiers and minimal sensor data necessary for wellness check functionality.

Payment Method Information — Not Stored on Our Servers

The only payment-related data stored on our servers is the receipt validation token issued by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Card numbers, bank account information, payment credentials, and billing addresses are processed exclusively within Apple's and Google's payment systems and are inaccessible to our servers. All payment data storage, refund handling, and billing dispute resolution are governed entirely by Apple's and Google's respective policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:

  1. Wellness Check Service: Collecting heartbeat signals from the subject's device and notifying guardians of wellness status.
  2. Alert Notifications: Sending step-by-step alerts (Caution → Warning → Urgent) to guardians when a subject's heartbeat is not received.
  3. Emergency Help Request Handling: When the subject directly taps the emergency help button, an immediate notification is sent to all connected guardians. If the user consents to location sharing, the current location (latitude, longitude, and accuracy) is included with the alert.
  4. Device Status Monitoring: Informing guardians of low battery, app termination, or other conditions that may affect wellness checks.
  5. Subscription Management: Verifying in-app purchase receipts and managing guardian service access.
  6. Service Improvement: Diagnosing errors and improving service reliability.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  1. Guardian-Subject Connection: When a subject shares their invite code with a guardian, the guardian receives the subject's wellness status (heartbeat received/missed, battery level). No personal information is shared — only device-level wellness data.
  2. Location Sharing During Emergency Help Requests: When the subject directly taps the [🚨] emergency help button in the app and consents to location sharing, the current location (latitude, longitude, and accuracy) is provided one time to all connected guardians. If location permission is denied or a GPS signal is unavailable, only the emergency alert is delivered without any location data.
  3. Legal Requirements: When required by applicable law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

For in-app purchase processing (Apple Inc., Google LLC), we receive only the receipt validation token from these providers for the sole purpose of verifying subscription status. We do not receive or process actual payment method details.

6. Your Rights

Anbu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

  1. Encryption in Transit: All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or higher).
  2. Access Control: Device token-based authentication ensures you can only access your own data.
  3. Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the Service.
  4. Automatic Deletion: Data that has exceeded its retention period is automatically deleted.

8. Local Storage

Anbu does not use cookies or web tracking technologies. The app stores the following information locally on your device (using SharedPreferences on Android / UserDefaults on iOS):

9. International Data Transfers

Our servers may be located outside your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to servers in other jurisdictions. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
